So I got this idea to go on a trip. . .then we thought why not use this time to go see Nicholle, Brent and their kids then Alex said he didn't feel comfortable taking the time off of work right now. So then it was no trip. Then last minute we talked about the boys and I going to Vegas and so I called to make sure that the relatives would be around to even go and visit and they said they would be!! So on Thursday night, February 12 me and the boys headed for VEGAS!!!!
We had an interesting trip to say the least. We had gotten as far as Mesquite, NV and just after passing through the van started to act up. The check engine light came on and started flashing then the whole van started to vibrate!! I was talking to Alex on the phone at the time and I told him what was going on and he didn't know what it could be, so I called my Dad and my Dad said it could be a few things, but didn't know. He suggested I call My Aunt Barb and Uncle Bob that live in Moapa, NV and see if we could spend the night with them. So I called my Aunt Barb and bless her heart, she said that would be fine. So the boys and I made it to their house and Bob came out to see if he could see anything that might be wrong. I thought he was done looking so I turned the van off then he said he wasn't quite done so I turned the van back on and it was fine. What!?!
The boys and I went ahead and spent the night there with them and then the next morning we had the mechanic at Barb's work look at it. He thinks I might have gotten some moisture in the gas tank, but that it looked and sounded just fine now. So before we headed out of town we stopped at the gas station in Glendale and got some fuel injector cleaner and some better gas (I had 85 in my tank, which doesn't work in Nevada very well). So we were on the road and the van seemed just fine then the check engine light came on again, but this time it wasn't flashing and the car didn't act any different.
When we finally arrived in Vegas to Cheryl and George's house we called up the Toyota dealership to have them hook it up to their computers just to be sure it was alright. So I took it in and they looked at it said it was fine probably just a problem from the elevation change, but the guy at the dealership asked me if I had looked at my front tires lately. I said, no not really and then looked at them and they were completely bald!!! I knew they were getting bad, but I hadn't realized they had gotten that bad. So then George, bless his heart, took me down to Costco and got me in with his membership and I paid for two new tires to be put on the van. Man could this trip get anymore complicated or expensive???? So the van was fine and taken care of and all was well. Now maybe our vacation could start!
